Groton/ New London Airport, Groton CT
Federal Aviation Association (FAA)
Scope: This project was a prototype and the first contract awarded for this nationwide DHS mandated upgrades to the Air Traffic Control Towers (ATCT). This project was a SDVOSB set aside negotiated RFP.
Project Completed Date: 2011-03-22
Details: The project SOW included retrofitting and installation of steel reinforcement to the entire interior four stories and fifth story exterior of the ATCT as mandated by DHS. SOW also included electrical, plumbing, demolition, metal stud framing, drywall, painting, welding, heating, flooring, repair work and abatement.
The majority of the project required the work to be performed while the ATCT was not operational from 10pm-6am. Working hours were from 8pm until 5:30am and required the ATCT to be fully operational at the end of each days work. The ATCT project required the site maintain zero dust and debris compliance in order to protect the sensitive electronic equipment. This requirement was met throughout the project with great satisfaction from FAA facility staff, COTR and Contracting Officer.
